We connected the old house to the new master suite this morning. No more taking the ladder up and through a window to get in. Many thanks to Ben, Gary, and Chuckie and the rest of the Sovereign crew for banging out the framing! Click the image below for video.

 

The garage was pretty much leveled and rebuilt this week. Siding progress improved as color appeared on one side of the house so far.

The real work finally started today. After months of red tape and supply issues and design changes and some last minute rotten wood discovery, the roof and most of the garage are getting torn down today. Rebuilding to start immediately after.

Finally.

 

Laurie and I spent 2 weekends putting up the new tile backsplash around the kitchen. We got this tile from General Flooring in Weymouth, MA (thanks, Dave!) and decided to tackle installation ourselves. The kitchen cabinets came from Kitchen Sales and were installed by Chris and Marc.

Chris and Marc spent a few days building a new mantel for the living room. It came out great! We had a picture of a finished mantel that we saw online. We will be painting ours white(-ish) to go with the rest of the trim in the house.

  

 

We received some initial drawings for the addition we want to put over the garage. Check them out.

I have posted a page for the photos of the office demolition. We started removing wallpaper only to find more wallpaper, then electric blue paint on top of an already skim-coated drywall. Lots of work to remove and no sure thing about the outcome. Instead, we have opted to gut the room and start over. (This is becoming a recurring theme for the house). Click the photo to see more.

 

We had an hour today to measure the rooms for new floors, meet the bulkhead guy, and do some last minute brainstorming for the coming weeks. We have posted loads of pictures that show what we have gotten ourselves into. You can get them here.
